Ordering & quotes

Why aren't prices on the website?

Natural material prices change with supply and season, so we quote current prices directly. Call or text (210) 695-1911, or send us a message, and we'll get right back to you.

How do I get a quote?
  1. Call or text (210) 695-1911.
  2. Tap Ask about this on any product, or use the contact form on our home page.
  3. Use our Material Calculator, then tap Send us this estimate or Text us this estimate.

Tell us the product, how much you need, and whether it's pickup or delivery.

How is material sold?
  • Soil, compost, mulch, sand, gravel and most river rock: by the cubic yard or half-yard.
  • Flagstone, chop block and boulders: by the pound, ton, or pallet.
  • Mexican beach pebbles, Arizona river rock, tumbled marble and lava rock: by the pound.
Do you offer discounts?

Yes. We offer military and first responder discounts, plus contractor and volume pricing. Just ask when you order.

Do you have contractor or commercial accounts?

Yes. Stop by the yard with proof of your business, and we'll set one up.

Can you special order something you don't stock?

Yes. Most other chop block colors and stone varieties can be special ordered, usually within about a week. We also do custom cuts and finishes. Ask us about timing.

Can I order by phone and pick up later?

Yes. Call ahead and we'll have it ready.

Pickup

Do you load my truck or trailer?

Yes. We load bulk material with our loader into pickups and trailers. Pallets of flagstone and chop block are loaded with a forklift.

How much can my pickup carry?

It depends on your truck's payload, which is printed on the sticker inside the driver's door. As a rough guide, most half-ton pickups can safely carry a half-yard of soil, sand or rock, and 2–3 yards of mulch. When in doubt, ask us.

Do I need to cover my load?

Yes. Texas law requires loose loads to be covered or secured. Bring a tarp, or buy one of ours (8' x 10').

Can I bring my own containers or bags?

Yes. We can fill buckets or bags by hand for small amounts.

Is there a minimum for pickup?

There's a half-yard minimum on bulk material loaded with our loader. For smaller amounts, we can fill your buckets or bags by hand.

Delivery

Do you deliver?

Yes. We deliver bulk material and palletized stone.

How much does delivery cost?

We include delivery in your quote. Tell us your address and ZIP when you ask. The contact form has a spot for it.

Is there a delivery minimum?

Yes. There's a $65 minimum delivery charge.

How much can you deliver in one trip?

Up to 10 cubic yards of sand or aggregate, 12 cubic yards of soil, or 14 cubic yards of mulch per load.

Some trucks can bring two materials in one load. The two must be equal amounts, up to 4 cubic yards total, and there's a $25 fee for a two-material load.

How soon can you deliver?

Usually within 1–2 business days. Call for same-day availability.

Where will the driver dump the material?

Wherever you choose, as long as our truck can safely reach it. Please:

  • Mark the spot, and keep it clear of cars, people and pets.
  • Tell us about gates, low wires, tree branches, or soft or wet ground.
  • Be aware that heavy trucks can crack driveways and curbs. Under our terms of sale, the customer is responsible for any damage to driveways, landscaping, utilities or septic systems at the delivery site.

You don't need to be home for the delivery.

Can you place pallets in my backyard?

Pallets are set down at the curb or driveway. We can't drive into backyards.

How much do I need?

How do I figure out how much I need?

Our Material Calculator does the math for you. Enter your length, width and depth, and it tells you how many yards, tons or pallets to order.

How deep should I spread it?

It depends on the material and the project. Our Material Calculator suggests typical depths for soil, mulch and rock, and does the math for you.

What's the difference between a yard and a ton?

A cubic yard measures space: 3' × 3' × 3'. A ton measures weight: 2,000 lb. Bulk material is sold by the yard. Flagstone and chop block are sold by weight because every piece is different.

How much is on a pallet?

A pallet of flagstone or chop block typically holds about 2 tons.

Should I order extra?

For flagstone and chop block, yes: add about 10% for cutting and waste. For bulk material, our calculator rounds up to the nearest half-yard.

Products

Will my material look exactly like the photos?

Close, but not exactly. Everything we sell is natural, so color varies from batch to batch. Our river rock photos show the stone wet and freshly rinsed. Dry, it looks duller and dustier. Come by the yard to see what's in stock today.

Can I see the material before I buy?

Yes. Stop by the yard during business hours and walk the bins and pallets. You're welcome to take a small sample home.

Which flagstone should I choose?
  • Oklahoma: our most popular and most durable flagstone. Great for high-traffic patios and walkways.
  • Arizona and New Mexico: dense, hard and long-lasting, in Southwest colors.
  • Mexico: our most budget-friendly option. It's softer stone that's easy to cut, but it can wear faster in high-traffic areas.
  • Select: large slabs for fewer seams and a high-end look.

See them all on our Flagstone page.

What's the difference between topsoil and garden soil?

Topsoil is for filling and leveling. Garden soil is blended with compost for planting beds and vegetables. Not sure which you need? Tell us what you're growing, and we'll point you to the right mix.

How is chop block measured?

By face height × depth. A 4×6 block has a 4" tall face and is 6" deep. Widths are random, because the stone is quarried and then chopped or sawn.

What's the difference between polished and honed slabs?

Polished has a high-sheen, reflective finish. Honed is matte and smooth but feels natural. Both come in 2' × 4' slabs, 1¼" or 2¼" thick.

Installation & care

Do I need weed fabric under rock or gravel?

We strongly recommend it. Our woven fabric blocks weeds, lets water drain through, and holds up in Texas heat. Pair it with steel or poly edging for a clean border that lasts.

What goes under a flagstone patio?

Start with a compacted crushed limestone base, then a level setting layer of decomposed granite. Set the stone, then fill the joints with decomposed granite, or with mortar for a permanent finish.

Can I dry-stack a chop block wall?

For decorative walls and borders under 2 feet tall, yes. For walls 2 feet or taller, we strongly recommend mortar. One yard of sand plus 8 bags of cement makes enough mortar for about 280 sq ft.

How do I keep rock or mulch from washing or blowing away?

Use Rock Glue (SRW Rock Binder) or Mulch Glue (SRW Mulch Stabilizer). Apply two coats with a pump sprayer, then let it cure 24 hours with no rain or sprinklers, at 50–80°F. These products are for decorative areas only, not walkways or driveways.

How do I bring out the color of my stone?

Rock Glue and Wet Look Sealer both deepen color and give a "just rinsed" look. If you'd rather keep a natural matte look on flagstone or chop block, use Masonry Sealer instead.

How do I clean up mortar haze?

Use our General Purpose Masonry Cleaner once the mortar has set, then seal with Masonry Sealer.
